About Us

The Horsemans Trading Post was established in 1969 by Eric and Trish Greenham and has proven to be an industry leader in Western clothing and Saddlery since.  The store is now owned by the well known Quarter Horse family Lisa, Kristy and Paul Lorimer.  Paul and his wife Dianne have been breeding Quarter Horses and Appaloosa’s since 1976.  Paul and Dianne were regular competitors in Halter, Western Pleasure, Trail and dabbled in Cutting and Reining all over Queensland and the AQHA Nationals.  Paul has a long history of involvement with shows and clubs in Queensland and the AQHA Board.  Paul was instrumental in the development of The Gatton Indoor Equestrian Centre and it continues to grow because of his guidance.

Paul and Dianne scaled back their showing once their daughters came along to allow Lisa and Kristy to enjoy the fun of showing western.  They both started in Lead Line on the appaloosas Gunlore Charge On and Kenbeth Lectric Charge and worked their way up to showing regularly at the QH Nationals.

Lisa was a successful youth competitor with her home bred horse “Gunlore Blinky Bill” and “Winderadeen So Special” winning a number of AQHA National Championships and End of Year awards.  Lisa was also in the AQHA Youth World Cup Team that competed in Amarillo, Texas in 2000.  She is now living in Brisbane and is excited about managing the Horseman’s Trading Post.  Look out for Lisa who will be back in the show ring riding “Im Soo Radical”.  Who is by Tall Dark N Radical and out of Winderadeen So Special.

Kristy also showed “Gunlore Blinky Bill” but was best known for her horse “Gunlore Charlie Brown”.  Kristy no longer actively rides horses but previously showed at both State and National levels.  Kristy is currently studying an Arts Degree at UQ but works regularly in the store answering emails, looking after the web site, and helping customers.

Dianne’s sister Joanne Ramsay also works in the store. Jo started out as a youth competitor in the 1980’s showing her appaloosa gelding Gunlore Charge On under the guidance of 1980’s western fashion guru Wilma Bussey.  After Gunlore Charge ON came her great mare Gunlore Pine’s Angel and more recently her homebred Jozone Bonnie Angel who was Qld Appaloosa reining Champion in 2005 and is currently back in work .

If you are looking for the latest in Western Fashion you can’t go past the Horsemans Trading Post.  Paul and Lisa are regular visitors to the USA; between them they have attended US Shows such as the All American Congress, the Paint World Show, two AQHA Youth World Cups and the Denver National Livestock Show.  They are the Australian Distributor for Hobby Horse Clothing, Big Horn, Tex Tan and numerous other top USA brand names.
