This boot is difficult to pull on like all true western boots so you achieve a nice snug fit around the ankle once on.
To help 'break' these boots in and help pull on the first few times, we suggest you use a light plastic bag to slip over your socks first. Than pull the boot on with the bag and once the boots are on, you can just break the bag off your foot!
It works and you may only need to do this a few times.
